Mobile phone retailers are popular targets for theft. The smartphones inside their stores come with price tags that rival laptops and desktop computers. The devices are also small enough to slip inside a bag or remove from a store in bulk.
Once smartphones are swiped, they can quickly be sold through online marketplaces or auction sites. Across the country, smartphones are being stolen via robbery, burglary, smash-and-grabs and organised retail crime.
