Figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) revealed the number of employees working from home has more than doubled since 2019, increasing by as much as 108.8 percent when comparing October – December 2019 with January – March 2022.
It also found that the increase varied across UK regions, with each region seeing an increase of more than 50 percent. Those employed in professional occupations saw the largest increase in homeworking (30.5 percentage points), rising from 12.9 percent in October – December 2019, to 43.4 percent in January – March 2022.
