ONVIF proves interoperability success at Security Essen 2010 with 3rd Public Plugfest
17 security companies demonstrated their ONVIF conformant products at Security Essen

  • 17 vendors successfully demonstrated the interoperability of ONVIF
  • 120 visitors participated in the event
  • ONVIF annual meeting was also organised to provide updates of ONVIF progress to all members

ONVIF, the leading standardisation initiative for IP-based physical security products, held its third public interoperability demonstration and open reception in conjunction with Security Essen 2010 on October 7 in Essen, Germany. During the open reception, 120 of security elites gathered together to get the latest updates of ONVIF's accomplishments as well as the interoperability demonstration.

At the demonstration, 17 companies demonstrated their ONVIF conformant products, including Axis, AxxonSoft, Bosch, Brickcom, Dallmeier, Exacq, Hikvision, Ingrasys, Koukaam, Milestone, Optelecom-NKF, Panasonic, Samsung, Siemens, SonyVIVOTEK and Win4Net. All the camera demonstrators simply brought their ONVIF conformant products to the site and connected to the ONVIF conformant network video clients (video management systems). Without prior efforts of one-on-one integration, the cameras successfully connected to the clients and demonstrated to the public how easy the ONVIF specification works and the spirit of ONVIF as an open industry forum.

Jonas Andersson, Chairman of ONVIF Steering Committee, shared at the opening of the reception: "About one year ago, there were about 100 members in ONVIF, and now there are over 200. And with over 300 ONVIF conformant products available in the market, as well as the success of this demonstration, it is proven that ONVIF is going to provide a convincing answer to standardisation and global interoperability."

Apart from the public interoperability demonstration and open reception, ONVIF also organised its Annual Meeting at the same day to provide ONVIF's updates and its outlook for 2011 to ONVIF members.
