It's back to a full 5-day working week for many professionals in the UK for the first time in 3 weeks and following the successful security operation surrounding the Royal Wedding, a series of counter terror raids near Sellafield Nuclear Power Plant and London, plus the demise of the world's number one terrorist target, the security industry really is dominating the news.
With perfect timing, IFSEC, the world's largest annual security event, is just around the corner. Next week in fact, 16 - 19 May at the NEC, Birmingham, UK. The organisers, UBM Live, have been at pains to mention it's just a coincidence, but there can't be a better time to meet like-minded professionals at the heart of the security industry.
The event, perfect for trade and end-users, represents the security industry. If it's new products and technology you're looking for, then you'll find it at IFSEC.
Whether it's hidden amongst the large double-decker stands the corporate giants wield out, or the small booths the rest of the industry contends with, a visit to the show is a superb opportunity to conduct months of research in just one day (or more if you're staying over and enjoying the exhibitors' hospitality at the many after show events).
A plethora of educational content is available for visitors to engage with and top up their security knowledge. Free seminars are focussed on case studies and new product presentations in short, sharp 30 minute slots. Judging by the programme it's going to be a popular area of the show.
Tavcom Training have partnered with IFSEC to launch the Tavcom Training Theatre, an independent educational feature where visitors can better understand what IP is, the benefits - and limitations. With the growing integration of IP it's undoubtedly a must attend for visitors.
