Provideo video servers assist in traffic surveillance in Taiwan
H-264 Video Server (PoE) from Provideo
Taoyuan city is the city of national gateway, where the Taipei CKS airport is situated. The Taoyuan Traffic Control Centre takes key position to manage all car flow for the airport, as well as all vehicles travelling to all cities in Taiwan via Taoyuan district.

The Taoyuan Traffic Control Centre has built tens of LED information panels along the main roads in Taoyuan city to provide updated traffic information and real-time status to the road users from time to time. The LED information boards surround the Taoyuan area and this creates a heavy load on human resources for the necessary maintenance to check on the status of each LED panel on a regular basis.

Provideo won the contract to provide the Taoyuan Traffic Control Centre with their IP video server with 3G network (USB) device at each site where an LED information panel is installed. As the information boards are situated around the city in locations where no underground work is allowed to bury the wires, mobile 3G transmission was therefore proposed to be used in this project. The remote viewing software is bundled with the Provideo video servers offering the officials the opportunity to check out the status of each LED information panel by with a few clicks of a mouse.

The project has been recently completed. "The Provideo IP surveillance system via 3G networking infrastructure saves a lot of trouble and money for us in application and system wiring," an official of the Taoyuan Traffic Control Centre said. "The IP surveillance system allows us to make our daily check of the LED panels in Taoyuan without leaving our desks. This has proven that only 30% of our man power is now required on patrol; that is, compared to the past, we have 70% more human resources available for daily traffic management and other important issues."
