Avigilon’s high-definition surveillance solution enables security personnel to cost-effectively monitor entire casino operation
The gaming market has begun a rapid transition to high-definition surveillance solution

Avigilon, a leader in high-definition (HD) and megapixel video surveillance systems, recently announced its expansion into the growing gaming and casino market with the appointment of leading security gaming expert, Douglas Florence, CPP, as the company's Business Development Director of Global Gaming.

With huge volumes of visitors and staff, large and diverse surveillance monitoring needs, a heightened threat of criminal activity, and state-mandated surveillance requirements, casinos and gaming operations are one of the largest consumers of surveillance technologies. Despite this, the majority of gaming operations still rely on out-dated analogue surveillance technologies that deliver grainy, low-resolution, footage and-because they require thousands of cameras to monitor a single casino operation-are also cost prohibitive. To improve security and reduce security-related costs, the gaming market has begun a rapid transition to high-definition surveillance solutions-a transition that is forecasted to accelerate over the next two years.

"Although the gaming industry is one of the largest consumers of video surveillance technology, the vast majority of casinos still rely on obsolete analogue technologies to protect assets and ensure the safety of their customers," said Alexander Fernandes, President and CEO of Avigilon. "With a unique combination of innovative high-definition network video management software and the broadest range of megapixel cameras on the market, the Avigilon high-definition surveillance solution is uniquely positioned to meet the needs of this growing marketplace." Douglas Florence, CPP, Business Development Director of Global Gaming, Avigilon

With thirty-six years of security industry experience, Florence is widely regarded as a surveillance, security, and gaming operations subject matter expert. Prior to joining Avigilon, Florence was Vice-President of Security and Surveillance at M Resort Spa Casino in Las Vegas where he was responsible for the management of the casino's security, surveillance, and risk management organisation. Florence was also the Executive Director of Security at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and the Director of Surveillance at The Mirage. Throughout his career, Florence has been instrumental in the development of security, surveillance, and investigation operations that are widely used in gaming security today.

"Throughout my career as a gaming security executive, I have relied on surveillance technology to meet the high-level of security required at gaming establishments," said Douglas Florence, Business Development Director of Global Gaming at Avigilon. "By delivering an unmatched level of image detail and ease of use combined with the ability to leverage existing surveillance technology investments, Avigilon's complete surveillance solution is a perfect choice for gaming organisations looking to transition to cost-effective high-definition surveillance."

Avigilon's high-definition surveillance solution enables security personnel to cost-effectively monitor the entire casino operation-from high stakes gaming tables to malls and parking lots-in greater detail using fewer cameras, resulting in dramatically lower installation and labour costs and better protection.
