The SharpView System consists of 60 IP cameras from JVC and Arecont Vision |
Replacing an old 30 camera analogue system that had an 80GB time lapse DVR, J2K Video designed the SharpView System to cover all areas at Scan's premises in Lancashire which includes offices, customer showroom, perimeter car parks, goods entrances and exits and the extensive warehousing of high-end computer components.
The SharpView System consists of 60 IP cameras from JVC and Arecont Vision with a range of pixel resolutions from D1 through to 2592 x 1944. Using only the highest quality Computar 1/2-inch megapixel lenses from CBC, the resulting video is outstanding and as a result, the system has drastically improved security at the high technology distributor's site and plays a key role in reducing shrinkage on site, resolving disputes and providing local Police with the best video evidence they have ever seen.
J2K Video designed the system with specific attention to the operational requirements of the business. Higher resolution cameras are fitted to capture greater detail of external areas, movement of goods in and out of the building and customer areas.
JVC's VN-V25 cameras have been installed in key areas to capture high speed, real-time video |
Lower resolution, higher speed cameras have been deployed in areas where internal operations warrant a need for better motion sensing and video capture.
Externally Arecont Vision's AV5100DN and AV3100DN housed in Ganz GH-230 IP67-rated enclosures have been installed with IR lamps from Raytec which provide excellent recordings in the SharpView NVRs throughout the day and night. Internally JVC's VN-V25 cameras have been installed in key areas to capture high speed, real-time video where the ultimate in reliability is required.
Internal cameras also include models from across the Arecont Vision range including AV1300M, AV2100M, AV3100M and AV5100M. The use of fixed focal length megapixel lenses from CBC ensures that the optimum picture quality is achieved, particularly for wider views of goods storage areas in the main warehouse.
Three SharpView Network Video Recorders, each with 12TB of RAID-1 fault tolerant recording have been built by Scan's own engineering team using high performance Intel servers. These are networked with all cameras and several Quad-Core client PCs (from Scan's own 3XS range) using ZyXEL 24-port PoE switches.
At over 400Mbps of actual recording rate, the throughput of data to each SharpView NVR is believed to be the highest in the industry. The extrapolated system write speed of 2,400Mbps is by far the fastest recording performance in the industry and therefore allows Scan to add more cameras as ample capacity and bandwidth are available to them in the existing SharpView NVRs.
With 36TB of RAID-1 storage and 60 multi-megapixel cameras recording at over 400Mbps, this implementation of SharpView is the largest and highest performance megapixel CCTV system on a single site anywhere in the world.
