Academia Competition gym is equipped with video monitoring solutions from Axis Communications |
Successor of the Instituto Hercules, the first sports gym in Sao Paulo (SP), Academia Competition was founded in 1984 in the Higienopolis neighborhood. Besides innovation of bringing in new sports to Latin America, Academia Competition has always been concerned with offering its customers the best, in an organised, safe manner.
In day to day events, realising the inefficiency of controlling the number of people participating in each class through presence lists, they opted for using a video monitoring system on a network with IP cameras from Axis Communications.
Solution
Academia Competition implemented over 100 network cameras and acquired video servers. The cameras are integrated to movement alarms that guarantee the gym's estate security 24 hours a day.
Result
Academia Competition brought efficiency to its business planning. The coordinators, managers and management can access the videos on the web and verify the real number of customers who attended the gym classes for each modality offered. Academia Competition has plans to expand the system as the need for monitoring and security increases.
Expanding sports gym
Academia Competition brought efficiency to its business planning with IP solutions from Axis Communications |
Successor of the Instituto Hercules, the first sports gym in Sao Paulo (SP), Academia Competition was founded in 1984 in the Higienopolis neighborhood. In a time in which gyms only offered bodybuilding, aerobics classes and martial arts, it brought a novelty: two swimming pools. With more than 15,000 customers served, it opened a second unit in the Oscar Freire neighborhood, in 1994, when it installed the first sports climbing wall in the country (imported from the USA). In 1998, it became headquarters for The Pilates Studio and was the first gym to offer the practice in Brazil. In a continuous search for excellence in services and pioneering, it inaugurated in 1999 its third unit, Competition Paulista, with bodybuilding equipment with electronic monitoring, new in Latin America, a convenience centre and an auditorium for holding lectures, events and courses for professional development.
Besides innovation, Academia Competition has always been concerned with offering its customers the best, in an organised, safe manner. In day to day events, realising the inefficiency of controlling the number of people participating in each class through presence lists, they opted for using a video monitoring system on a network with IP cameras from Axis. Thus, Academia Competition brought efficiency to its business planning. The coordinators, managers and management can access the videos on the web and verify the real number of customers who attended the gym classes for each modality offered.
Academia Competition Gym has a remote monitoring system which covers the entire functional area |
Security all day
Academia Competition implemented 105 AXIS 206 Network Cameras, 35 in each one of the three units, and acquired 3 video servers 1 per unit. The cameras, viewed from 12 work stations, are integrated to movement alarms that guarantee the gym's estate security 24 hours a day. Video management is done through DIGIFORT software, by Systrade Tecnologia, which allows the viewing of camera images and the integration to automatic alarms.
Efficient management
The gym has a remote monitoring system which covers the entire functional area and can be accessed from anywhere, at any moment, by any computer with Internet access. Customers' privacy is respected, since the images are password-protected and can only be accessed by Academia Competition coordinators, managers or management. With an exact count of participants done via monitoring, the class times can be better planned and the coordinators can verify if at a determined moment there are excess athletes and re-schedule them to different times.
According to Crastechini, Maintenance Supervisor at the Gym, the choice for Axis network cameras is due to the known brand, to the individualisation of the IP cameras and to their high performance, which allows them to use a smaller number of equipment for coverage by video of a wider area. Besides providing more efficiency for class administration, the project guarantees daily estate security. There was no special requirement for installation, but in the pool areas, it was necessary to protect the cameras. Academia Competition plans to expand the system as the need for monitoring and security increases. In total, 105 cameras provide image coverage of 100% of the installations.
