VIVOTEK IP surveillance system extends Wintek's control to India
Mission

Wintek, a Taiwan-based LCD maker, is a multi-national corporation with an overseas large plant in India. Due to geographical distances, the controllability and interoperation over the plant became a challenging issue for the headquarters in Taiwan. For the plant itself, they were also facing internal security problems like theft, monitoring, patrolling, and accidents. So, Wintek is looking for an IP video surveillance solution to help them effectively solve plant security problems and improve management efficiency. CIEAN PO International, a video surveillance service provider, helped with the large-scale IP surveillance deployment by adopting VIVOTEK's network cameras and video management software meeting their specific needs.

Solution

48 VIVOTEK 1.3 megapixel IP7138 were deployed in the spacious production areas and warehouses. The major reason of using megapixel network cameras is because they can deliver larger high-resolution images, more than 3 times, compared with general VGA cameras do for a wide coverage. Furthermore, they can offer very detailed information as zoom-in capability. With large coverage achieved by individual megapixel camera, the installation of megapixel cameras relatively reduced the numbers they expected.

In restricted areas including administration rooms, offices and machinery rooms, 16 units of IFD7131 featuring

PIR sensors were installed so as to detect unauthorized access by human temperature. Compared with traditional motion detection, PIR realises more precise detection and higher sensitivity. With a 3-axis design, the FD7131 were placed on the ceiling and against the wall to provide images in different angles. In addition, FD7131 provides PoE support, helping Wintek achieve easier installation and more cost savings.

For outdoor security, 13 VIVOTEK IP7151 with enclosures were placed by the entrance and on the perimeter of the plant. IP7151 gains the managers 24-hour control over activities outside the plant with the true day and night function. For any fast moving objects, its progressive scan CCD sensor is able to capture razor-sharp, clear images that traditional interlaced-scan techniques cannot achieve.

Achievements

The IP surveillance system dramatically improves Wintek's response capability to an emergence because the head office can constantly keep an eye on the activities inside and outside the Indian plant. "We are satisfied with the results of the IP surveillance system. Besides enhancing our management efficiency, it also helps us build a safer working environment for our employees," said Wintek Executive Vice President C.C. Hsu.
