One of the world's largest and most technologically advanced corrugated packaging plants is fully exploiting the benefits of CCTV.  Cepac are utilising cameras manufactured by Samsung Techwin at their Rotherham site for both health and safety and management information purposes, as well as for security.

Cepac produce ‘retail friendly packaging' with a corrugator machine capable of running at speeds of up to 400 metres per minute.  "The machine, which is 100 metres long, is extremely safe to operate but when operating at full capacity can become very hot," said Cepac's Wayne Cusworth.  "The CCTV cameras are therefore proving very useful as they allow our operators to monitor in detail the production process without having to get too close to the machinery.  There is the added bonus that if production is delayed the recorded video can be reviewed to identify the cause of the problem."

Twelve Samsung Techwin SDC-415 530 TV lines Day/Night colour cameras have been installed along the production line by Ferrybridge based CCTV specialists DJ Byers Ltd.  "We had installed SDC-415's cameras on other projects and so were confident to recommend them to Cepac knowing they would capture very high quality images of activity along the production line," said Managing Director David Byers.

Security at the site, which was purpose built in 1999, has been enhanced with the installation of seven external dome cameras.  Collectively they allow Cepac to control access to the site as well as deter and detect unwanted visitors.

Wayne Cusworth added:  "The CCTV system ensures we maintain the highest levels of service to our customers by helping us to keep our machines operating at full capacity. The security and safety of our staff is of course also very important and we have not therefore hesitated to invest in the very latest CCTV technology."
