Printing press chooses RISCO Group's security solution to provide intrusion protection

One of EMEA's largest printing presses specializes in printing valuable and sensitive, documents such as checks, credit cards, phone cards, smart cards, driver's licenses shopping vouchers, and other confidential documents. They wanted to secure these materials from the hundreds of employees and visitors who access the site.

The challenge

The printing press site is comprised of a large complex that recently underwent a major expansion. The sensitive printing press machinery is located in a production area, which is surrounded by the offices of graphic designers and management personnel. Several additional areas in the complex contain particularly sensitive materials. These include the Vouchers and ID Cards departments, which contain personal materials in the making. The most classified area in the complex is the central warehouse, which stores finished, products that are ready for use. Due to the high sensitivity of the materials they print the printing press required an integrated solution that would provide a high level of intrusion protection. They also needed to monitor the employees working in the printing press, and control their access to the sensitive materials and machinery.

The Solution

RISCO Group's flagship ProSYS™ Integrated Security System with integrated Access Control was chosen as the solution that met all requirements. ProSYS was installed with RISCO Group's iWISE high-end motion detectors with Anti-Mask technology, as well as Glassbreak detectors. The Access Control system, applied to 72 doors, was integrated with the existing database and uses cardholder credentials to define access rights to the printing press' facilities. SynopSYS™ Security & Building Management Platform was implemented to monitor and control the ProSYS, Access Control, and RISCO Group's Net DVR. The system is managed from a single user interface by the site's Security Director as well as 13 authorized security operators. Live video from a camera is displayed whenever access to a door is denied or following an intruder alarm - with the Net DVR providing high quality event-triggered recording. SynopSYS™ is also set to deactivate access cards that have not been used within a specified period of time.
